SPORTS

Physical Education is greatly valued as part of the School Curriculum. As well as promoting healthy habits the children develop confidence, self – esteem and social skills. Children gain an understanding of what is involved in team membership and learn to appreciate fair play and sportsmanship, as well as an opportunity to begin to realise their sporting potential.

The School’s programme follows the traditional sports of Rugby, Hockey, Football, Netball, Cricket and Rounders but it also includes Cross Country, Swimming, Athletics, Dance, Tennis and Squash. Our programme of after school activities also offers numerous additional opportunities to learn and participate in sport.

At Key Stage 1 all children participate in at least one hour of PE per week and at Key Stage 2 that rises to two 2.5hrs per week ( including 30min of Swimming throughout the year ) The school plays an active part in local State and Independent Inter School competitions and teams compete regularly in regional and national events. As members of ISA competition and festivals are entered throughout the Midlands Region.

To represent their school is a matter of great pride for the children and the majority of the pupils at KS2 participate in competitive fixtures against other schools. Parents and friends are always welcome to come along and support the teams home and away.

Our pupils learn that competition is positive and, although winning is our aim, it is taking part that leads to lasting memories and great friendships.
